Sewer Line Repair That Starts With a Camera

Sewer Line Repair in San Antonio, TX
When a main sewer line fails, the signs usually show up outside the house before anything breaks inside: a sinkhole or soft spot in the lawn, a patch of grass that grows greener than the rest, or a sewer smell around the yard. Several drains backing up at once and gurgling toilets point the same way. Drain Connection repairs sewer lines across San Antonio and the Hill Country, and every repair starts with a look inside the pipe, not a guess.

“We had a drain pipe break and Drain Connection was able to come out the next day, excavate 3’ down and 3’ under my walkway. The crew was very polite and respectful. They had the pipe repaired the same day and returned the next morning to backfill.”

Find the Problem Before Anyone Quotes a Fix
A waterproof, high-resolution camera on a flexible rod goes into the line through a cleanout, and you see the same picture our technician sees: cracks, root intrusion, separated joints, corrosion inside cast iron or a section that has collapsed. The recording shows where the damage is and how far it runs, and that decides the repair. One crack and a line that is failing from end to end are two very different jobs, and they should be priced that way. Read more about our sewer inspections.
Sewer Line Repair Options We Use
- Sewer patch repair: one crack, hole or leaking joint in an otherwise sound pipe is sealed from the inside with a targeted cured-in-place patch, positioned on camera. See sewer patch repair.
- Trenchless pipe lining: when damage runs along the line, an epoxy-saturated liner is inserted, inflated and cured in place, forming a new seamless pipe inside the old one without a trench across the yard. See trenchless pipe lining.
- Cast iron descaling: corroded cast iron is cleaned back to the pipe wall so the line flows again and the camera can show what is left of it. See cast iron descaling.
- Hydro jetting and drain snaking: roots, grease and scale are cleared first, so the inspection and any lining work start from a clean pipe.
What Lining Can and Cannot Fix
Lining works when the existing pipe is structurally suitable and the problem areas can be reached and cleaned. It does not correct a line that has lost its slope, standing water in a sag (a belly) or foundation movement. If the camera shows one of those, you hear it before you get a price, along with the options, including digging out a short section where that is the right call.
Permits and Who Signs Off
Which authority permits and inspects sewer work depends on where the address sits: inside or outside city limits, which utility serves it, and whether the lot is on a public main or a septic system. A sewer lateral is the one pipe that connects private plumbing to a shared system, which is why the permit and the inspection exist. We confirm the right authority before the work starts.

Sewer Line Repair Questions
How do I know if my sewer line needs repair?
Several drains backing up at once, gurgling toilets, a sewer odor, soggy or sunken spots in the yard, or unusually green patches of grass. A camera inspection confirms it and shows exactly where the damage is.
Can a sewer line be repaired without digging up the yard?
Often, yes. A patch repair or a cured-in-place liner is installed from inside the pipe through an existing access point. Lining cannot correct a belly or a line that has lost its slope.
Do I need a permit for sewer line repair in San Antonio?
Sewer repair and replacement are permitted and inspected by the authority that serves the address. Our sewer permit guide below explains who that is for your property.
